Coding Trouble

Over the past two days I've been coding in flash work on a great 3D project, I ran into a bit of trouble with the video components and hope to resolve those issues as soon as possible. It's been a joy and a really interesting learning curve to tackle this project and hopefully I'll come out on top......we'll see.

New Monitor

So a few days ago my old monitor just went caput. It was a great monitor a Sony CRT and I had it for quite a while. I was working on one of myFlash projects and the screen blinked to black and then came back, I didn't think anything of it until the whole screen top and bottom decided to start doing the Mambo! Needless to say that was the end of that. So I was able to find a smokin deal on a brand new 22" Samsung LCD Monitor from PCClub. It's a great monitor and the space I have for working on screen now is just perfect. I've really come to like the Samsung brand I have two Samsung 20"ers at work and they really come in handy. Oh yes it would be nice to have two at home, but not neccesary. So many other things take priority. But I digress, the most impressive thing about the switch to a new monitor is the detail and color I get from the Samsung. Amazing! It brings all my old photo's back to life and makes me want to stare at them all over again. Here is a look at what my new monitor looks like, it just the commercial picture that they have on the website.

Tech Links

You'll notice on the sidebar I've started putting down some Tech Links. These links will reflect topics that I cover and animation Tutorial Sites available to help anyone learn to do animation and flash. The first is my Website it's a collection of my work and progress during my academic studies. The second link there is probably the single most effective website for teaching flash. I have gone through everyone of their tutorials and learned heaps about flash and action Script. The link that talks about Maya is a website I stumbled on while attending classes at ASU. HighEnd3D is an animation website that has tutorials, models, textures, shaders, and scripting on many different animation packages and is far and away one of the better resources for Maya Animation. And of course the Flash Loaded link, This is the company that develops and distributes Flash components. These are small flash files that can be incorporated into your website or be used together to make many more interesting things to put on websites or even be the structure of the website itself. I'll add more as I think of them.

I hope these link will be beneficial to you, as they have been excellent resources to me.

The Dangers of the Blog

So as I'm currently trying to get my blog exactly the way I want it, I'm finding that these blog things were not made to be user friendly. I've had a lot of trouble just getting it to look the way I want and then having to edit the html so that I get that result. I do feel however that this blog will be a good outlet for my thoughts on animation and digital technology....so in that vain I'll keep at it even though my first attempts proved to be a little more trouble than expected.

Hello World

In electronics and in the arts it seems that everyone needs to be up with the lastest technology and software. I've had the chance to learn many great software packages and plan to share my insights and thoughts with you as well as present some of my own work and animations. Recently I've been learn alot about PaperVision3D. This third part program was created to bring 3D to flash and I must say accomplished that very well. If you want to check out some of there Demos go here: http://www.papervision3d.org/ The greatest thing about Papervision is that it was developed by a group of college kids back east and thankfully they decided that Papervision should be open source! Woohoo. That means free for those out of the loop. Anyway, I'm currently working on a couple of Flash/Papervision projects and I must say it really been fun. Here is a really cool website to demonstrate the potential that Papervision has:
http://adn.blam.be/papervision/ This is a 360 video taken and mapped on a 3D sphere, you can pan around and view every anlge of the camera in realtime. It's really amazing.

Well I thinks thats quite enough chattering for my first post so I'll leave it at that and hope to post a few of my animations soon.
